Nusantara Foundation is a non-profit organization registered in Washington, DC. The foundation is established as a community based operating foundation that is publicly supported, operated by, and for the benefit of Indonesian culture in the international community. Nusantara Foundation receives funds from a variety of individual donors, and provide a vehicle for donors to establish endowed funds without incurring the costs of starting a foundation. The foundation is administered by a governing body.

We are conceived during the beginning term of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, in 2009. The founders realized that Indonesia with its rich artistic traditions, ethnic cultures, the diversity of its society provides an excellent vehicle to engage and connect to the international audience. The Nusantara Foundation is established to share the richness of Indonesian culture in the international community.

Our founders consist of professionals from different backgrounds with the same commitment and vision. We are longing to preserve and promote Indonesian culture while living in the international community. The founders recognize that these cultures has shaped and identified them as unique individuals with tolerance and great perspectives to their own and other cultures. The foundation may provide grants to any individual or organization who contributes his/her life/activities for the cause of Indonesian art and culture.
