1. Jasmine
The delicate jasmine flower opens only at night, it radiates sweet fragrance. This strongly scented, white flower is used as a Hindu symbol for love. The flowers are often worn by women during ceremonial service in many countries in southern and southeast Asia.

2. Frangipani
Frangipani is also called Plumeria, the flowers range from yellow to pink. It is most fragrant at night. In local folk beliefs they provide shelter to ghosts and demons. They are associated with temples in both Hindu and Buddhist cultures, though Hindus (except on Bali) do not use the flowers in their temple offerings.

3. Lotus
The lotus flower grows in muddy water and rises above the surface to bloom with remarkable beauty. At night the flower closes and sinks underwater, at dawn it rises and opens again. Lotus symbolizes the purity of heart and mind
Its unfolding petals suggest the expansion of the soul. The growth of its pure beauty from the mud of its origin holds a benign spiritual promise.

4. Orchid
Orchid is known as a popular ornamental plant. The orchid usually have flowers of unusual shapes with beautiful colors. Indonesia has a very rich variation of orchid species. Some orchids have single flowers but most have a racemose inflorescence, sometimes with a large number of flowers. Orchids are often used as a symbol of love, luxury, and beauty for centuries.

5. Rafflesia
Rafflesia is an endangered species and it can be found in the rainforests of Indonesia. Its long term survival is now seriously threatened by the the depletion of the Indonesia rainforest. Rafflesia is an official state flower of Indonesia. It has the largest single flower of any flowering plant.
Like all other precious wild plants and wildlife, it will take increasing effort to search out this beautiful bloom. But this flower’s beauty is so transient that only a few will be fortunate enough to catch it in full glorious bloom.

Nusantara Foundation is a non-profit organization. The donations are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Nusantara Foundation’s board retains ultimate discretion in how funds are designated for use.
